A Random Cat

Hundred eyes, one cat.

Argus had a cat

Argus Panoptes was the giant with a hundred eyes. Hera set him to watch, and watch he did, because some of his eyes stayed open while the rest slept. Nothing crossed the field without being counted.

Hermes talked him to sleep anyway. When Argus fell, his eyes scattered. Most of them went to the peacock's tail. A few landed on a cat.

That cat has been strolling ever since. It carries its eyes as pips, six to a face, and it keeps none of the watching to itself. Wherever it lands, it lands in front of everyone.
